ST. PAUL, Minn. – The Macalester College women's tennis team beat Bethany Lutheran College, 6-1 in a non-conference dual Saturday afternoon at Baseline Tennis Center. The Scots are now 2-2 on the season, with their second consecutive win.
The Scots dominated the singles matches. First year Darrian Streater (Redmond, Ore./Redmond Proficiency Academy) and senior Elizabeth Trevathan (St. Paul, Minn./St. Paul Academy) won their matches by the identical score of 6-1, 6-1. Every Scot had a round where they lost fewer than two games. Sophomore Berkeley Cox (Sandpoint, Idaho/Sandpoint) and senior Sedona Crosby (St. Paul, Minn./Highland Park) both lost just three games over their matches. Senior Savannah Haugen (Bemidji, Minn./Bemidji) won her matches 6-1, 6-3. First year Isabella Tamburrino (Memphis, Tenn./St. Mary's Episcopal School) won her match in straight sets, 6-0, 6-0.
The doubles rounds were less fortuitous. Crosby and sophomore Greta Laurel (River Falls, Wis./Hudson) swept their match 6-0, but both of the other Scots pairs fell 6-4.
The Scots' next match will see them back in the Baseline Tennis Center, facing the University of Northwestern (MN) on Friday, Feb. 28. The first matches start at 5:00 p.m.
