| By:
ST. PAUL, Minn. – Macalester College senior pitcher Cam Scholl (Belmont, Calif./Carlmont) was named to the All-MIAC team, as the conference announced its year-end awards for baseball today. Junior infielder Nathan Gumagay (Potomac, Md./Winston Churchill) and junior outfielder Raymond McCaskey (Colorado Springs, Colo./Manitou Springs) also were recognized with All-MIAC honorable mention accolades.

Scholl had an outstanding season as the ace of the Scots' pitching staff, posting a record of 5-3 with an earned run average of 1.62, which led the MIAC and ranks 11th in Division III. His ERA also is a school record, breaking the mark of 1.66, set by Joe Trier '18 in 2018. In nine appearances that included seven starts, Scholl struck out 34 batters while walking just nine and allowing nine earned runs in 50 innings. Early in the season, he tossed a nine-inning shutout in a 7-0 win over Wesleyan, giving up five hits while fanning seven to earn MIAC Pitcher of the Week honors on Mar. 24. He also limited Carleton to a run on three hits in a complete-game, 7-1 victory in seven innings. In 34 career appearances, Scholl was 7-10 with 90 strikeouts in 112 innings.

Gumagay had a breakout season for the Scots, batting a team-best .406 with 22 runs, six doubles, a triple and 17 runs batted in. He ranked fifth in the MIAC in batting average, while his on-base percentage of .523 ranked third in the conference. Gumagay had seven multi-hit games, including a 4-for-4 performance at Augsburg on April 10. In a 24-10 victory over the University of Northwestern on April 22, he went 2-for-3 with three walks, four runs and three RBIs. In 88 career games, Gumagay has 70 hits, 14 doubles and a .306 batting average in his career.

McCaskey turned in his best season as a Scot, hitting .313 with 20 runs, five doubles, two triples, a home run and 10 RBIs in 35 games. He also stole 10 bases in 12 attempts. Over the first five MIAC doubleheaders in April, McCaskey had a 10-game hitting streak, going 14-for-31 (.452) with eight runs and three doubles. In a 7-2 win over Saint Mary's on April 6, he went 2-for-2 with three runs and three stolen bases. Through 87 games, McCaskey has a .291 batting average with 53 hits, 53 runs and 23 stolen bases.

Joe Becker of Saint John's and Mason Buck of St. Olaf were named the Max Molock Players of the Year, while Gustavus' Adam Biewen was chosen the Mike Augustin Pitcher of the Year. Hayden Sperbeck of Bethel was selected the MIAC Rookie of the Year, and Brad Baker of Gustavus is the Jim Dimick Coach of the Year.
