Cam Scholl (Belmont, Calif./Carlmont), juniors
Tristan Jones (Fairfield, Conn./Greens Farms Academy),
Ben King (Chicago, Ill./Whitney M. Young Magnet) and
Josh Planko (Northville, Mich./Northville), and sophomore
Holden Peacock (Houston, Texas/Kinkaid School) were selected to the Division III Academic All-District team for baseball, the College Sports Communicators (CSC) announced today.
The CSC Academic All-America program honors student-athletes for excellence in both academics and athletics. Student-athletes must be a sophomore, junior or senior, have a cumulative grade-point average of 3.50 or higher and play in 90 percent or start 66 percent of the team's games to be considered for Academic All-District and All-American accolades. Pitchers must have appeared in 17 games or pitched 25 innings.
This spring Scholl earned All-Region and All-MIAC honors as the as the ace of the Scots' pitching staff. He posted a record of 5-3 with an earned run average of 1.62, which led the MIAC and currently ranks fifth in Division III. His ERA also is a school record, breaking the mark of 1.66, set by
Joe Trier '18 in 2018. A computer science major, Scholl made the Academic All-District team in 2023 and is a two-time member of the Academic All-MIAC Team.
Jones started 29 of Macalester's 35 games this season, primarily at third base. He batted .247 with 17 runs, a team-best eight doubles and 19 runs batted in. Jones, who also made the Academic All-MIAC Team last year, is majoring in environmental studies.
King started a team-leading nine games on the mound, posting a 1-4 record with a 7.41 ERA. He fanned 26 batters and walked 11 in 37 2/3 innings this season. A data science major at Macalester, King earned a spot on the Academic All-MIAC Team in 2024.
Planko was the Scots' primary first baseman this spring, with 28 of his 32 starts coming at first base. He batted .307 with 35 hits, six doubles, two homers and 20 RBIs while tying for the team lead in runs with 25. Planko, who is majoring in computer science, made the Academic All-MIAC Team last year.
Peacock led Macalester in hits with 40 while posting a career-best batting average of .331. He matched Planko with 25 runs and was second on the team with 23 RBIs. His 16 stolen bases in 17 attempts were tied for the MIAC lead. Peacock is a statistics major at Macalester.
