MOORHEAD, Minn. – After losing the first game, 4-0, the Macalester College softball team responded with an 8-0 victory in five innings in Game 2 in a MIAC split at Concordia College Thursday at Jake Christiansen Athletic Complex. The Scots are now 16-8 overall and 3-3 in the conference, while the Cobbers are now 14-8, 2-4 MIAC.
The first game remained scoreless through 3.5 innings, with pitchers Bayleigh Frye and sophomore

Concordia ended the scoreless tie in the bottom of the fourth in a big way, as Reese Hauck hit a leadoff home run and Danielle Lyon belted a two-run homer for a 3-0 lead. Later in the inning, a bunt single brought in another run to put the Cobbers up, 4-0. In the top of the sixth, first year
Safiya Butler (St. Louis, Mo./Whitfield School) and senior
Sophie Futchko (Prince Frederick, Md./Huntingtown) led off with a single and a double respectively to put runners on second and third with nobody out. But Frye induced a pop-up and struck out two batters to end the threat. First year
Ally Wolf (Valencia, Calif./Valencia) hit a single in the seventh for Macalester's final hit of the game in a 4-0 loss.
Six different Scots had hits in the game, with Futchko's double the only extra-base hit. Sophomore pitcher
Paige Schultz (Hamilton, N.J./Steinert) pitched two scoreless innings of relief for Macalester. Frye finished with nine strikeouts in a complete-game shutout.
