MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. – The Macalester College men's swimming & diving team set two more school records on the second day of the MIAC Swimming & Diving Championships Thursday night at the University of Minnesota Aquatic Center. The Scots remain in fourth place in the team standings with 175 points.
Macalester's 400-yard medley relay team of first year
Kean James Pajarillaga (Saipan, Marianas Pacific/Grace Christian Academy), senior
Charles Batsaikhan (Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia/East Chapel Hill), sophomore
Thomas Moore (Philadelphia, Pa./Science Leadership Academy) and first year
Max Taufen (Evanston, Ill./Evanston Township) turned in a school-record time of 3:25.05 to place third. The performance earns the relay team All-MIAC honors.
Multiple Scots made the finals during Thursday's morning session to earn points for the team score. Moore qualified for the A final in the 200-yard individual medley with a school-record time of 1:55.25. He then took third in the final in 1:55.28 to earn All-MIAC status. Batsaikhan also made the A final in the 200 IM and placed eighth in 1:58.09. Junior
Will St. John (McGaheysville, Va./East Rockingham) made the B final and finished 12th.
Pajarillaga finished fifth in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 4:46.20. First year
Boden Allen (Los Angeles, Calif./Redondo Union) qualified for the B final in the 500 free and placed 15th in 4:58.64. Senior
Isaac Kisker (Dayton, Ohio/Oakwood) made the A final in the 50-yard freestyle and took eighth in 21.37. Taufen and junior
Casey Meretta (Potomac, Md./Winston Churchill) both made the B final in the 50 free and took 11th and 14th, respectively.
The MIAC Swimming & Diving Championships continue Friday, Feb. 21 with two sessions beginning at 10:30 a.m. and 6:30 p.m.
