Men’s Soccer: Macalester Stays at No. 6 in Region IX Rankings

| By:
ST. PAUL, Minn. – The Macalester College men's soccer team remained at No. 6 in this week's Region IX coaches poll conducted by the United Soccer Coaches, the organization announced today. The Scots went 1-1 last week, beating Saint Mary's and losing to Augsburg in a pair of MIAC games.

On Tuesday Macalester took on Saint Mary's on the road and came away with a 1-0 victory, with first year midfielder Milan Shah (Chicago, Ill./Francis W. Parker) in the 40th minute. Junior goalkeeper Drew Moseman (St. Paul, Minn./St. Paul Central) made five saves for the shutout. On Saturday, the Scots ran into a tough Augsburg squad that had suffered its first loss of the season four days before. Junior midfielder Kasdan Blattman (San Jose, Calif./Bellarmine) tallied Macalester's lone goal on a penalty kick in the 29th minute, only to have the Auggies, ranked third nationally at the time, score three goals in a 15-minute span in the second half.

No. 8 St. Olaf takes over the No. 1 spot in the region this week, followed No. 10 Augsburg and No. 11 Lake Forest, who moved up from fifth to third. Gustavus, UW-Eau Claire, Macalester, Luther and UW-Superior round out the Region IX rankings.

The Scots host Saint John's University in a key MIAC match on Saturday, Oct. 11. The game starts at 1:00 p.m. as a part of Macalester's Mac Fest celebration.
