ST. PAUL, Minn. – The Macalester College volleyball team completed the Macalester Invitational with a victory over Minnesota Morris and a loss to UW-Superior Saturday afternoon in the Leonard Center. The Scots finish the tournament 2-2 and are now 6-3 this season.
In the win over the Cougars, Macalester took the first set easily, 25-13, with senior right side

Sydney Stratton (North Liberty, Iowa/Liberty) each recording three kills. Minn. Morris took the second set, 25-22 despite seven kills from Rahe. The Scots went back to a more balanced attack in the third set, with Stratton, senior outside hitter
Adisa Preston (Eden Prairie, Minn./Eden Prairie) and first year outside hitter
Ella Cohen-Richie (Chicago, Ill./Univ. of Chicago Laboratory Schools) tallying three kills apiece in another 25-13 win.
The Cougars had 15 kills in the fourth set to extend the match with a 25-16 win. Cohen-Richie led Macalester with five kills. Then in the fifth set the Scots took care of business, limiting Minn. Morris to four kills while putting away seven kills and three service aces en route to a 15-5 victory. Cohen-Richie added three more kills in the final set to give her a career-best 16 kills for the match. Rahe was right behind with 15 kills, while Stratton had nine kills and Preston contributed eight kills. Senior

Camilia Jones (Orlando, Fla.) shared the setting duties and registered 25 and 21 assists, respectively. Senior libero
Torrance Williams (Houston, Texas/Yes Prep Northbrook) racked up 32 digs to pace the defense.
Against UW-Superior the Scots started well, hitting .293 with 15 kills en route to a 25-18 win. Cohen-Richie led the way with six kills in the set. Macalester was on the verge of taking the second set, leading 24-22 before the Yellowjackets tallied the final six points. The third also was close, with the Scots holding off three set points before losing, 25-23. UW-Superior closed out the match with a 25-18 win in the fourth set.
Cohen-Richie notched 16 kills for the second straight match to lead Macalester. Preston and Rahe each had 11 kills, while Norton delivered 29 assists to go with 11 digs, and Jones added 15 assists. Williams had 19 digs and Cohen Richie had 15 digs defensively. Stratton also contributed to the defense with five blocks.
The Scots play another non-conference game on Wednesday, Sept. 18, when Martin Luther visits the Leonard Center. The team will be recognizing Macalester's faculty and staff at the match, which begins at 7:00 p.m.
