WACONIA, Minn. – The Macalester College men's golf team topped Crown College by a single stroke, 323 to 324, in a dual Friday morning at Island View Golf Course. The competition was the first of the 2024 fall season for both teams.

Sophomore Jean Fabre (Grasse, France/Fenelon Institute) was the Scots' low scorer with a 78 to take second overall. Junior Brady Thomas (Apple Valley, Minn./Shattuck-Saint Mary's School) tied for third with a 79, followed by first year Aaron Cheng (Mountain View, Calif./Taipei American School) in fifth with an 81. Sophomore Theo Jones (Port Washington, N.Y./Roslyn) shot an 85 as Macalester's fourth scorer, edging out Crown's fourth-best score of 86 to clinch the team win. First year Yaqi Miao (Shanghai, China/Montverde Academy) also competed for the Scots and took ninth.

Macalester competes in the two-round Augsburg Fall Invite Aug. 31-Sept. 1 at Majestic Oaks Golf Course in Ham Lake, Minn.
