ST. PAUL, Minn. – The Macalester College women's tennis team rounded out the weekend hosting Hamline for a MIAC matchup. The Scots took control and won 7-2. Macalester is now 10-5 (5-3 MIAC).
The Scots won the all the points in doubles. At No. 1 doubles, seniors
Meg Ulrich (Carlisle, PA./Carlisle) and
Sydney Ellison (Birmingham, Ala./Spain Park) took down their opponents 8-5. Sophomores
Elizabeth Trevathan (St. Paul, Minn./St. Paul Academy) and
Savannah Haugen (Bemidji, Minn./Bemidji) eased to an 8-2 victory at No. 2 doubles. Third doubles saw senior
Amanye Reynolds (St. Paul, Minn./Harding) and junior
Megan Twomey (Minneapolis, Minn./Washburn) win 8-4.
Reynolds blanked her opponent at No. 1 singles in two 6-0 sets. Ulrich only gave up one game, winning 6-0, 6-1 at second singles. Slated at third singles, Trevathan won 6-2, 6-0. Haugen took the point at fourth singles, defeating her opponent 6-1, 6-3. The Pipers took the points at fifth and sixth singles.
Macalester's next match will be Saturday April 27. The Scots head to St. Peter to take on MIAC opponent Gustavus. The match will start at 9:00 am.
