MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. – The Macalester College women's tennis team competed against a strong Bethel side this evening, falling 6-3 to the Royals. The Scots are now 9-5 (4-3 MIAC) while Bethel improves to 15-1 (5-1 MIAC).
The Scots earned one of the three doubles points, taking the win at No. 3 doubles. Senior
Amanye Reynolds (St. Paul, Minn./Harding) and junior
Megan Twomey (Minneapolis, Minn./Washburn) partnered to defeat their opponents 8-7 (7-5 tiebreaker). At first doubles, seniors
Sydney Ellison (Birmingham, Ala./Spain Park) and
Meg Ulrich (Carlisle, PA./Carlisle) came close, just being edged out 8-6. The Royals also took the point at second doubles.
Slated at No. 4 singles, sophomore
Elizabeth Trevathan (St. Paul, Minn./St. Paul Academy) defeated her opponent in two sets, 6-1, 6-4. Ellison also won her singles match at No. 1 singles, 6-4, 7-5. Bethel won the battles at second, third, fifth, and sixth singles.
Macalester's next match will be Sunday April 21. The Scots host Hamline at 11:00 am at Hayden Courts.
