ST. PAUL, Minn. – First year Pooja Bucklin (Palo Alto, Calif./Henry M. Gunn) was chosen the CWPA Rookie of the Year, as the conference announced its year-end awards today. Bucklin and sophomore Jess Palmer-Sammons (Half Moon Bay, Calif./Half Moon Bay) were included on the All-CWPA first team, while sophomores Jayden Kratt (Palo Alto, Calif./Henry M. Gunn) and Alana Nadolski (Kentwood, Mich./East Kentwood) received All-CWPA honorable mention.

Additionally, head coach Scott Reed was named the CWPA Coach of the Year for the third time in his nine years at Macalester.

Bucklin has made an immediate impact in her first year as a Scot, leading the team in goals (35) assists (20) and points (55) in her first collegiate campaign. She has been honored twice this season as the CWPA Rookie of the Week, on Mar. 20 after scoring nine goals in three matches in California, and on Mar. 27 after totaling 15 goals in four CWPA matches at Riley Pool. Last week she made the CWPA Honor Roll following a seven-goal weekend in four conference matches at Penn State Behrend.

Palmer-Sammons has emerged as an offensive threat for the Scots this season. Through 16 games, she has 30 goals and 12 assists for 42 points, which is tied for second on the team. After contributing to wins at Caltech and Carthage, Palmer-Sammons was chosen the CWPA Player of the Week on Mar. 20. She has 47 goals and 20 assists in 34 career matches.

Kratt has started eight games in goal for Macalester and has registered 85 saves and a goals-against average of 6.50. She earned CWPA Defensive Player of the Week honors on April 9 after making 12 saves in a win over Wheaton and 18 saves in a victory over Connecticut College.

Nadolski has had a breakout season with 31 goals and 11 assists to tie Palmer-Sammons for second on the team with 42 points. Against Whittier College, she scored five goals in a 10-8 win in California. She also tallied three goals in a 10-8 victory over Division I VMI at the Macalester Invitational on Feb. 16.

Reed has guided the Scots to a 12-4 record this season, including a 7-1 mark in conference play. A highlight so far this season was a 12-11 victory over Austin College at Riley Pool on Mar. 24, which ended a six-match losing streak to the Kangaroos and essentially clinched the No. 2 seed for this weekend's CWPA Division III Championship. This is the third CWPA Coach of the Year award for Reed, who earned the honor after the 2017 and 2018 seasons. He also was the Divison III national Coach of the Year in 2017. Under Reed, the Scots won the CWPA championship in 2017, 2018 and 2019. He is 82-66 in eight-plus seasons at Macalester.

The Scots will compete in the CWPA Division III Championship April 19-21 at Connecticut College in New London, Conn. Macalester, seeded second, will face Carthage College in the quarterfinals on Friday, April 19 at 1:30 p.m. Central.
