ST. PAUL, Minn. - The Macalester College water polo team ranks first among all women's water polo teams with a team grade-point average of 3.81 to receive the Association of Collegiate Water Polo Coaches All-Academic Team Award. Also, all 14 members of the Scots' water polo team earned the All-Academic Award from the ACWPC.
Macalester led all women's water polo programs, regardless of division, with a 3.81 team GPA, ahead of Arizona State (3.76) and Villanova (3.76) in second and third, respectively. Others in the top 10 included Connecticut College (3.69), Harvard (3.67) and Stanford (3.66). The Scots ranked second overall in team GPA in each of the past two seasons and were third in 2023.
To be eligible for the ACWPC All-Academic Award, student-athletes must have a GPA of 3.20 or higher.
The 14 Scots to earn the ACWPC All-Academic Award are
Lorelei Bell (Encinitas, Calif./San Dieguito Academy),
Jayden Kratt (Palo Alto, Calif./Henry M. Gunn),
Alana Nadolski (Kentwood, Mich./East Kentwood),
Jess Palmer-Sammons (Half Moon Bay, Calif./Half Moon Bay) and
Kendall Strauss (Round Rock, Texas/Round Rock), rising seniors
Hannah Fasi (Honolulu, Hawaii/Iolani School) and
Molly Lemmon (Evanston, Ill./Evanston Township), rising juniors
Anna Gaisser (Seattle, Wash./Ingraham),
Mak Kratz (Northbrook, Ill./Glenbrook North),
Myles Kratz (Northbrook, Ill./Glenbrook North) and
Ayla Reynolds (San Antonio, Texas/John M. Harlan), and rising sophomores
Alice Lemmon (Evanston, Ill./Evanston Township),
Katie Martin (Bryn Athyn, Pa./Germantown Academy) and
Reese Winegar (Hoffman Estates, Ill./Williamd Fremd).
The Scots, coached by
Scott Reed, were 16-6 overall, won the CWPA Tournament and for the first time advanced to the USA Water Polo Division III National Championship, where they finished third.
