MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. – The Macalester College women's tennis team battled a tough Carleton side this afternoon, falling 9-0 to the Knights, who remain undefeated this season. Macalester is now 8-4, 3-2 MIAC.
The sophomore pairing of
Elizabeth Trevathan (St. Paul, Minn./St. Paul Academy) and
Savannah Haugen (Bemidji, Minn./Bemidji) battled hard at No. 2 doubles, falling 8-6. The Knights took the points at first and third doubles.
Senior
Meg Ulrich (Carlisle, PA./Carlisle) battled to 6-4 in the first set of her No. 3 singles match, but then fell 6-0 in the second set, giving the Knights the point. Haugen also came close, falling 6-4 in the first set of the fifth singles match, but also fell 6-0 in the second set for Carleton to take the point. Carleton also took the points at first, second, fourth, and sixth singles.
Macalester's next match will be Sunday April 14. The Scots host Saint Benedict for another MIAC contest at Hayden Courts. The match will start at 3:00 pm.
