ORLANDO, Fla. – The Macalester College women's tennis team rounded out its trip to Florida today, defeating Franciscan University, 5-4. The Scots went 3-1 down in Florida and are currently 6-3 this season.
Slated at No. 1 doubles, seniors
Amanye Reynolds (St. Paul, Minn./Harding) and
Sydney Ellison (Birmingham, Ala./Spain Park) took the point 8-4. Then at No. 2 doubles, senior
Meg Ulrich (Carlisle, PA./Carlisle) and sophomore
Elizabeth Trevathan (St. Paul, Minn./St. Paul Academy) eased to an 8-2 victory. The Barons took the point at third doubles.
Junior
Megan Twomey (Minneapolis, Minn./Washburn) battled in a three-set match (6-2, 4-6, 10-4) to win the point at sixth singles. Trevathan won at fourth singles 6-3, 6-1 at fourth singles. At No. 3 singles, Ulrich won 6-2, 6-4. The Barons took the points at first, second, and fifth singles.
The Scots' next match will be Saturday March 23. Macalester heads to Northfield to take on St. Olaf at 11:00 am for a conference matchup.
