BLOOMINGTON, Minn. – The Macalester College women's tennis team kicked off the 2024 season with a bang, as the Scots defeated UW-Superior by a commanding score of 8-1.
Senior
Sydney Ellison (Birmingham, Ala./Spain Park) controlled her match at No. 1 singles, winning 6-1, 6-2. Slated at No. 2 singles, senior
Amanye Reynolds (St. Paul, Minn./Harding) won in back-to-back 6-2 sets. Fellow senior
Meg Ulrich (Carlisle, PA./Carlisle) took third singles within two sets (6-1, 6-4). Sophomores
Elizabeth Trevathan (St. Paul, Minn./St. Paul Academy) and
Savannah Haugen (Bemidji, Minn./Bemidji) won No. 4 singles (6-0, 6-2) and No. 5 singles (6-2, 6-0) respectively.
At No. 1 doubles, Ellison and Trevathan blasted past their opponents, 8-1. Reynolds and Ulrich also commanded the court at No. 2 doubles, winning 8-2. Haugen and sophomore
Sedona Crosby (St. Paul, Minn./Highland Park) won No. 3 doubles 8-5.
Macalester's next match will be Sunday Feb 18. The Scots play Grinnell at 12:30 p.m. at Rogers Tennis Club in Rogers, MN.
