NORTHFIELD, Minn. – The Macalester College volleyball team went on the road and defeated Carleton College, 25-22, 22-25, 25-18, 25-17 Friday evening at West Gym. The Scots improve to 10-11 overall and 2-4 in the conference with the win, while the Knights drop to 11-10, 2-4 MIAC.
In the first set, junior right side
Avery Rahe (Olathe, Kan./Olathe) registered six kills to lead Macalester to a 25-22 win. Carleton responded with a 25-22 win of its own in the second set despite three kills apiece from Rahe and senior outside hitter
Adisa Preston (Eden Prairie, Minn./Eden Prairie). The third set saw the Scots turn a one-point set into a seven-point victory, racking up 18 kills against one error in 31 attempts for a .548 hitting percentage. Rahe, senior outside hitter
Gwen Wooten (Allen, Texas/Allen) and sophomore outside hitter
MiLani Terrell (Cypress, Texas/Tomball Memorial) led the way with four kills each.
Macalester trailed in the fourth set, 13-10 before turning the tide with nine straight points. Wooten and Preston each had two kills in the run, with junior defensive specialist
Sarah Bohrer (Minneapolis, Minn./Edina) serving a pair of aces. The Knights never came closer than four points, as the Scots closed out the win, 25-17. Preston tallied five kills in the final set.
Rahe and Preston led the offense with 14 kills each, while Wooten notched a season-best 12 kills. Preston also added 13 digs and three aces. Senior

Hannah Morrow (Raleigh, N.C./Millbrook) shared the setting duties and registered 23 and 18 assists, respectively. Bohrer finished with three aces and had 11 digs, with senior libero
Torrance Williams (Houston, Texas/Yes Prep Northbrook) leading the defense with 16 digs.
Macalester heads back to Northfield on Wednesday, Oct. 23 for a MIAC match against St. Olaf. The first serve goes up at 7:00 p.m.
