ST. PAUL, Minn. – The Macalester College men's track and field team was received All-Academic Team recognition from the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association, the organization announced today. In addition, rising junior Arlo Heitler (Hastings, N.Y./Hastings) earned All-Academic athlete distinction.
 
To qualify as an USTFCCCA All-Academic team, the program must register at least a 3.10 cumulative GPA. The Scots finished the season with a 3.647, registering the 11^th highest GPA in Division III.
 
In order to received USTFCCCA All-Academic athlete distinction, student-athletes must have a cumulative GPA of 3.30 or higher and have either competed in an NCAA indoor or outdoor championship, or finished the regular season ranked in the national top 50 individually or top 35 in a relay.
 
Heitler earned All-MIAC honors at the Outdoor conference meet, placing both third in the 200m dash (21.94) and the 400m dash (47.91). His 400m dash time broke the previous school record set in 1995. During the indoor season, he tied the school record in the 60m dash with a mark of 7.05. Heitler also broke the 200m dash record with a time of 22.35 at the Tostrud Classic on Feb 18. At the MIAC Indoor Championships, he was All-MIAC honorable mention in the 400m dash, taking fourth.
