ST. PAUL, Minn. – The Macalester College water polo team closed out its home invitational with a 12-4 loss to Ottawa University of Arizona on Sunday at Riley Pool. The Scots went 1-3 at the Macalester Invitational, which included seven teams and 14 matches over three days.
Ottawa led 4-0 in the second quarter when sophomore
Brooke Lane (Meriden, Conn./Hopkins School) and senior
Eleanor Michaud (Long Grove, Ill./Adlai E. Stevenson) scored for Macalester. Another Ottawa goal made the score 5-2 at halftime. Sophomore
Sian Lewandowski (North Haven, Conn./Williston Northampton) answered a goal by the Spirit early in the third quarter before Ottawa tallied four consecutive goals to take control, 10-3. First year
Alana Nadolski (Kentwood, Mich./East Kentwood) found the net in the fourth quarter, but Ottawa closed out the win with two more goals to make the final score 12-4.
Macalester returns to action on Mar. 11, when the Scots begin their Spring Break trip to California with a match at Chapman University.
