DULUTH, Minn. – The Macalester College volleyball team earned a 3-1 victory on the road against the College of St. Scholastica, 25-11, 25-12, 21-25, 25-15 in a MIAC match Thursday evening at Reif Gymnasium. The win ends a five-match losing streak for the Scots, who improve to 8-13 overall and 2-5 in conference play. The Saints fall to 3-18, 1-6 MIAC.
Macalester dominated the first set with 14 kills against just one error in 35 attempts for a hitting percentage of .371 in a 25-11 win. Junior outside hitter

In the third set, St. Scholastica registered 16 kills and led from start to finish to stay alive, 25-21. Lindsey Baribeau had five kills for the Saints, with Preston leading Macalester with four kills. Looking to close out the match in the fourth set, the Scots cranked up the defense, allowing just four St. Scholastica kills while registering 5.0 total team blocks in a 25-15 win. Macalester closed out the match with a 9-2 run that included a pair of kills by Preston and four service aces. Preston had five kills in the final set, while first year middle blocker

Macalester continues its MIAC schedule with a home match against St. Olaf on Saturday, Oct. 21. The match is scheduled to begin at 7:00 p.m. in the Leonard Center.
