ST. PAUL, Minn. – The Macalester College volleyball team wrapped up its non-conference schedule with a defeat to UW-Stout, 25-22, 25-18, 13-25, 25-19 Tuesday night in the Leonard Center. The Scots are now 7-13 overall, while the Blue Devils, who beat Macalester in three sets at the UW-La Crosse Tournament on Sept. 16, improve to 16-5.
The Scots led early in the first set before UW-Stout came back to tie the score at 19-19. The Blue Devils took control from there, scoring six of the final nine points to take the set, 25-22. Junior outside hitter
Adisa Preston (Eden Prairie, Minn./Eden Prairie) registered six kills in the set. In the second set it was UW-Stout that grabbed the lead and didn't look back, leading by as many as 11 points in a 25-18 victory. First year outside hitter
MiLani Terrell (Cypress, Texas/Tomball Memorial) notched four kills for the Scots.
Macalester responded in a big way in the third set, building a 12-point lead en route to a 25-13 win. Terrell had four of the Scots' 13 kills in the set. Hoping to keep momentum on its side into the fourth set, Macalester stayed close until a 7-3 run put the Blue Devils on top, 19-15. The Scots were unable to get closer than three points, as UW-Stout closed out the match with a 25-19 win in the fourth set.

Avery Rahe (Olathe, Kan./Olathe West) and first year middle blocker
Sydney Stratton (North Liberty, Iowa/Liberty) each had eight kills, while Preston and junior middle blocker
Stephanie Geber (Oviedo, Fla./Oviedo) tallied seven kills apiece. Stratton and Geber also had four blocks apiece. First year setter
Hannah Morrow (Raleigh, N.C./Millbrook) registered 38 assists and 12 digs, as she was one of five Scots to notch 12 or more digs. Sophomore defensive specialist
Sarah Bohrer (Minneapolis, Minn./Edina) led the way with 17 digs, junior
Nicole Norton (Brussels, Wis./Southern Door) had 16 digs, junior libero
Torrance Williams (Houston, Texas/Yes Prep Northbrook) recorded 14 digs and junior defensive specialist
Jill MacInnis (Orland Park, Ill./Carl Sandburg) matched Morrow with 12 digs. UW-Stout's Sydney Hoverman led all players with 19 kills.
Macalester returns to MIAC play on Thursday, Oct. 19 with a match at St. Scholastica. The first serve goes up at 7:00 p.m. in Duluth, Minn.
