St. Paul, Minn. – The Macalester College women's soccer team received the Team Academic Award from the United Soccer Coaches last week, after posting a 3.73 team grade point average during the 2021-22 academic year. The Scots' GPA ranks 11
th in Division III and 18
th in the nation.
Macalester is one of 152 schools to have both its men's and women's programs achieve this honor. This is the 15
th time in the past 19 years that Macalester has earned this award, which requires teams to have an overall team GPA of 3.0 or higher. There was a total of 502 women's programs across all divisions that qualified for the Team Academic Award.
Last fall, Macalester had two seniors,
Dana Gustafson (Ames, Iowa/Ames) and
Hannah Conner (Madison, Wis./Madison West), named to the Division III Academic All-District 6 team by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSida). Gustafson and Conner were also two of 23 team members to earn Academic All-MIAC honors, achieving a cumulative 3.50 GPA or better.
