
ST. PAUL, Minn. – The Macalester College women's golf team's team grade point average ranked second among all Division III women's golf programs during the 2021-22 academic year, according to the Women's Golf Coaches Association. The Scots, coached by
Johnny Greene, registered a 3.819 collective team GPA.
Earlier this month, seniors
Emma Iverson (Northfield, Minn./Northfield) and
Tenley Smith (Williamstown, Mass./Mount Greylock Regional), sophomore
Phebe Chen (South Barrington, Ill./Barrington) and first years
Kirstyn Barsola (New Braunfels, Texas/Academy of the Holy Angels),
Lauren Petro (Canton, Ohio/GlenOak) and
Elsa Vieregg (Northbrook, Ill./New Trier) were recognized as WGCA All-American Scholars, which requires a cumulative GPA of 3.50 or higher.
Macalester was behind only Benedictine (3.866) among Division III women's golf teams while ranking ahead of Middlebury (3.795) Otterbein (3.788) and UW-Whitewater (3.787) in the top five. Other MIAC teams in the top 25 include Gustavus (3.687) in 13th and St. Catherine (3.650) in 17th.
