Box Score 1 KENOSHA, Wis. – The Macalester College water polo team wrapped up play at the CWPA Regional in Carthage with two victories Sunday at Koenitzer Aquatic Center. The Scots beat the host Firebirds, 16-4 in the morning before defeating Wittenberg, 10-9 to improve to 4-11 on the season.
Against Carthage, Macalester scored four goals in the first quarter and five in the second to take a commanding 9-1 lead at halftime. Senior
Riley Waters (Portland, Oregon/St. Mary's Academy) and junior
Eleanor Michaud (Long Grove, Ill./Adlai E. Stevenson) each had three goals in the first half, with senior
Annika Krueger (Emerald Hills, Calif./Sequoia) scoring twice and junior
Sydney Hollingsworth (Evanston, Ill./Evanston Township) scoring once in the second quarter. It was more of the same in the second half, with Krueger adding three goals, first year
Brooke Lane (Meriden, Conn./Hopkins School) scoring twice and Waters and Hollingsworth each scoring once.
In the Scots' final game of the weekend, Macalester trailed 5-3 after one quarter despite two goals from Hollingsworth and another by Michaud. Krueger found the net twice in the second quarter to tie the score at 5-5 before Wittenberg scored before halftime to make the score 6-5 Tigers. Sian Lewandowski (North Haven, Conn./Williston Northampton) and sophomore
Gabriela Weiner (Chicago, Ill./Whitney M. Young Magnet) tied the score at 7-7 for the Scots heading into the fourth quarter. After Anaiah Lightner tallied her sixth goal of the match to put the Tigers on top, Macalester turned to Waters, who scored three consecutive goals to give the Scots their first lead, 10-8 with three minutes remaining. Macalester held Wittenberg to one goal the rest of the way to clinch its second win of the day.

Laurel O'Hare (Evanston, Ill./Evanston Township) made 11 saves to lead the Scots' defensive efforts.
Macalester hosts Carthage at Riley Pool on Saturday, April 16 at 7:00 p.m. The Scots will honor their seniors before the match.
