Women’s Swimming & Diving: Wray-Raabolle Earns All-MIAC Honors

ST. PAUL, Minn. – First year Verity Wray-Raabolle (Owatonna, Minn./Bethlehem Academy) was recognized for her All-MIAC performance at the MIAC Swimming & Diving Championships this past weekend. The top three finishers in each event at the MIAC Championships earn All-MIAC honors, while places 4-6 in the individual events and the fourth-place relay teams receive All-MIAC honorable mention.

Wray-Raabolle placed third in the 100-yard backstroke on Friday with a time of 58.19 to become the first Macalester women's swimmer to earn All-MIAC accolades since Maggie McKenna '16 in 2013. Earlier this season, Wray-Raabolle broke the school record in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 57.93 earlier this season.

Sophomore Jocelyn Radke (Indianapolis, Ind.) also received All-MIAC honorable mention in three individual events, taking fourth in the 50-yard freestyle, fifth in the 100-yard butterfly and sixth in the 100-yard freestyle. Radke broke school records in all three events this past weekend.

Two relay teams also were recognized as All-MIAC honorable mention. The 800-yard freestyle relay of Radke and first years Natalie Pollock (Madison, Wis./Madison West), Eleanor Parker (Milton, Wis./Milton) and Caroline Chapon (Evanston, Ill./Evanston Township) finished fourth in a school-record time of 8:00.47. The 200-yard freestyle relay of Wray-Raabolle, Radke and first years Olga Merkadeau (Lafayette, Calif./The College Preparatory School) and Anna Rakowski (Vergennes, Vt./Vergennes Union) finished fourth with a time of 1:37.65, also a school record. Macalester finished sixth in the team standings at the MIAC meet with 305 points.

Jordyn Wentzel of St. Catherine was named the MIAC Swimmer of the Year for the third time. Hamline's Courtney Broyles was chosen the Diver of the Year, while St. Catherine coach Justin Zook was selected MIAC Coach of the Year. Click here to view the MIAC All-Conference release.
