MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. – First year Verity Wray-Raabolle (Owatonna, Minn./Bethlehem Academy)  earned All-MIAC honors in the 100-yard backstroke, and two more school records fell as the Macalester College women's swimming and diving team completed Day 3 at the MIAC Championships Friday at the University of Minnesota Aquatic Center. The Scots are in sixth place in the team scoring with 218 points.

Wray-Raabolle placed third in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 58.19 to become the first Macalester women's swimmer to earn All-MIAC accolades since Maggie McKenna '16 in 2013. The Scots' other 'A' final qualifier on Friday was sophomore Jocelyn Radke (Indianapolis, Ind.), who finished fifth in the 100-yard butterfly in 59.23. Her time in the preliminaries of 58.64 broke the school record of 59.17, set by Frances Redpath in 2019.

Five other Scots scored points by qualifying for the 'B' finals, led by first year Caroline Chapon (Evanston, Ill./Evanston Township), who was ninth in the 400-yard individual medley with a lifetime-best time of 4:45.18. First year Natalie Pollock (Madison, Wis./Madison West) finished 10th in the 100-yard butterfly in 1:00.54, also a personal best. First year Olga Merkadeau (Lafayette, Calif./The College Preparatory School) placed 14th in the 100-yard backstroke in 1:00.61. In the 200-yard freestyle, first year Eleanor Parker (Milton, Wis./Milton) and junior Malia Borg (Charleston, S.C./Academic Magnet) finished 15th and 16th, respectively.

Macalester's 200-yard freestyle relay made it three straight days with a new school relay record, as the team of Wray-Raabolle, Merkadeau, Radke and first year Anna Rakowski (Vergennes, Vt./Vergennes Union) finished fourth with a time of 1:37.65. That eclipsed the old record, set in 2010, of 1:39.69.

Several Scots swam lifetime bests in their events, including sophomore Isabel Capecci (Franklin, Mass./Franklin) and first year Melina Nilson (Seattle, Wash./Garfield) in the400-yard individual medley, Rakowski in the 200-yard freestyle, senior Zella Lobo (Portland, Ore./Grant) in the 100-yard breaststroke, and first year Sonya Green (Golden, Colo./Lakewood) in the 100-yard backstroke.
