ST. PAUL, Minn. – Macalester College sophomore
Kate Yehle (Madison, Wis./James Madison Memorial) was chosen the MIAC Athlete of the Week for women's diving for the week ending Oct. 23, the league announced today. Yehle won both diving events to help the Scots defeat Luther in a dual meet on Saturday.
Competing in the season opener, Yehle won the 1-meter diving event with a score of 206.65, over eight points higher than the next best score. Then on the 3-meter board, she scored 230.15 points, nearly 22 points more than the runner-up, to sweep both diving events. Both marks are career bests for Yehle, who was 10th on the 1-meter board and 13th on the 3-meter board at the MIAC Championships last season.
Yehle's performances on Saturday helped the Scots win 12 of the 13 events contested against Luther to win the meet, 168.5 points to 71.5.
Macalester hosts Saint Benedict next Saturday, Oct. 29 in a dual meet. The meet starts at 1:00 p.m. at Riley Pool.
