DULUTH, Minn. – The Macalester College volleyball team was looking to follow up last night's upset of No. 18 Augsburg but came up short, losing 3-1 at St. Scholastica in a MIAC match Saturday afternoon at Reif Gymnasium. The Scots are now 13-9 and 3-4 in conference play, while the Saints improve to 10-10, 4-4 MIAC.
Senior outside hitter
Eliza King (Novato, Calif./San Marin) tallied five kills in the first set, but St. Scholastica turned a 15-15 tie into a 25-19 win. Macalester bounced back in the second set, fending off set point twice with kills by first year outside hitter
Grace Watkins (San Angelo, Texas/Georgetown) and King before King put the set away with a kill for a 27-25 win. King and sophomore right side
Gwen Wooten (Allen, Texas/Allen) had six kills apiece in the set.
In the third set, the Scots managed just six kills in a 25-9 defeat. The Saints led for most of the fourth set despite six more kills from Wooten, as the hosts closed out the match with a 25-21 victory.
Wooten led Macalester with 13 kills and a .478 hitting percentage to go with four blocks. King finished with 12 kills and eight digs. Sophomore

Maya Mortenson (Minneapolis, Minn./Spring Lake Park) each delivered 13 assists and two service aces. Sophomore libero
Torrance Williams (Houston, Texas/Yes Prep Northbrook) registered 16 digs. Jessica Remer led St. Scholastica with 16 kills.
Macalester returns home to face Saint Mary's University on Wednesday, Oct. 19. The MIAC match begins at 7:00 p.m. in the Leonard Center.
