NORTHFIELD, Minn. – The Macalester College volleyball team earned a MIAC victory over Carleton College in four sets before sweeping Luther College in a tri-match at Carleton Saturday morning at West Gym. The results give the Scots an overall record of 12-5, including a 2-1 mark in the conference.
Against Carleton, Macalester held off the Knights (3-11, 0-4 MIAC) to win the first set, 25-23. Sophomore middle blocker

Avery Rahe (Olathe, Kan./Olathe East) each had four kills in the set. The Scots cruised in the second set, 25-16, with senior outside hitter
Eliza King (Novato, Calif./San Marin) delivering four of Macalester's 15 kills. Carleton responded in the third set with a 25-23 win despite five kills from Rahe. But the Scots made sure the final outcome would go in their favor, tallying 15 kills and a .353 hitting percentage while holding the Knights to just five kills to win the fourth set, 25-11.
For the match, Macalester hit .247 while limiting Carleton to .158. Rahe led the Scots with 14 kills and just one error in 25 attempts for a .520 hitting percentage. Geber hit .435 with 12 kills, while King finished with nine kills and 16 digs. Sophomore right side

Sarah Bohrer (Minneapolis, Minn./Edina) had 10 digs.
In the day's second match, Macalester defeated Luther (4-12), 25-20, 25-18, 25-13 in a non-conference match. Preston led the way with 13 kills and no errors in 22 attempts for a hitting percentage of .591. King contributed 10 kills and a .381 hitting percentage, as the Scots hit a season-high .368. Rahe added seven kills and three blocks, while Mortenson delivered 34 assists. King led the defense with 10 digs and three blocks, while senior defensive specialist
Katrina Schoen (Grafton, Wis./Cedarburg) had eight digs.
Macalester continues MIAC play with a match at Saint Benedict on Friday, Oct. 7. The first serve is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
