ST. PAUL, Minn. – The Macalester College men's soccer team started conference play tonight against the Concordia College (Minn.) Cobbers. The Scots were victorious, in a 4-1 outcome. The Scots' record is now 3-3 (1-0-0 in conference).
The Scots scored quickly with first year
Hans Haenicke (Lisle, Ill./Benet Academy) scoring in the third minute. The Cobbers would answer back though in the 31
st minute with a goal from Nate Weaver. The two sides continued to battle throughout the half.
The Scots turned up the gears in the second half. In the 47
th minute junior
Thomas Dono (Plymouth, Mich./Salem) scored off an assist from Haenicke. Just a minute later, the two would reverse roles with Haenicke scoring off an assist from Dono
. The game was sealed for the Scots with a goal from junior
Silas Southworth (Lancaster, NH/White Mountains Regional) in the 78
th minute.
The Scots will play their next game on Saturday, Sept. 18. They will play in a conference match against Augsburg University in Minneapolis, Minn. Kickoff will be at 12:30 p.m.
