SUPERIOR, Wis. – First year outside hitter
Adisa Preston (Eden Prairie, Minn./Eden Prairie) totaled 21 kills, as the Macalester College volleyball team opened the UW-Superior Tournament with two victories on Friday. The Scots, who are now 5-2 on the season, defeated both Northland and Bethany Lutheran in three sets.
In the day's first match, Macalester hit .303 with 34 kills and just seven hitting errors to beat Northland, 25-11, 25-16, 25-11. Preston tallied 11 kills without an error, while junior
Eliza King (Novato, Calif./San Marin) added seven kills, also without an error, and nine digs. First year setter
Nicole Norton (Brussels, Wis./Southern Door) contributed to the efficient hitting with 23 assists. Defensively, first year
Torrance Williams (Houston, Texas/Yes Prep Northbrook) notched 16 digs in the win.
Against Bethany Lutheran, the Scots avenged a loss to the Vikings earlier this season with a 25-14, 25-22, 25-17 sweep. Macalester hit just .083, but held BLC to a .000 hitting percentage with 23 kills and 23 errors. Preston again paced the offense with 10 kills, while King had eight kills to go with a team-best 11 digs in another solid all-around performance. First year middle blocker
Stephanie Geber (Oviedo, Fla./Oviedo) contributed five kills without an error and two total blocks, with Norton registering 23 assists and eight digs.
The results extend the Scots' winning streak to four matches, the program's longest string of victories since the 2015 squad won seven in a row.
Macalester wraps up play at the UW-Superior Tournament on Saturday with matches against Nebraska Wesleyan at noon and the host Yellowjackets at 2:00 p.m.
