Bloomington, Minn.- The Macalester College men's tennis team has now won five straight matches after shutting out Concordia College 9-0. That makes two straight shutout victories for the Scots in as many days. Macalester improves to 5-1 (5-1 MAIC) while Concordia falls to 0-9 (0-7 MIAC).
The Scots started the match off by sweeping doubles play. No. 1 slotted senior duo of
Sam Hochberger (Maple Grove, Minn./ Maple Grove) and
Ben White (Parkersburg, W. Va./Parkersburg South) earned an 8-3 win. Sophomore
Matthew Sullivan (Tacoma, Wash./Weil) and senior
Aidan Toner-Rodgers (Sebastopol, Calif./Analy) also defeated the Cobbers duo by a score of 8-3 in the no. 2 slot.

Juniors
Jeffrey Jorgensen (Menlo Park, Calif./Menlo-Atherton) and
Alexander Poland (Madison, Wis./Maison West) dominated their way to an 8-1 win from the no. 3 slot.

In singles play, no. 1 Hochberger defeated his opponent 6-1 and 6-0. No. 2 Jorgensen took both sets by a score of 6-1. No. 3 slotted junior
Karsten Knutsen (Minneapolis, Minn./Riverfield Country Day (Okla.) won his first set by a score of 6-2 then blanked his opponent to take set two.
No. 4 slotted White also won his match in two straight sets by a scores of 6-1 and 6-2. Sullivan took both sets by scores of 6-1 and 6-3 in the no. 5 slot. Poland held down the no. 6 slot by winning in two straight sets. Poland claimed both set victories by a score of 6-1.
