St. Paul, Minn.- The Macalester College baseball team dropped game one to Concordia College by a score of 11-4 after making a late push in the last two innings. The Scots used that momentum in game two by jumping out to an early 6-0 lead before taking game two by a score of 6-1. Macalester improves to 6-11 (6-11 MIAC) after today's split. After today, Concordia is 10-11 (4-7 MIAC).
In game one, the Scots had an opportunity to put some runs on the board in the first inning after loading the bases with no outs Macalester was sat down in order. The Cobbers then scored nine runs over the course of the next three innings to take a comfortable 9-0 lead.
The Scots were able to plate a runner in the fifth inning after sophomore
Joe Margolis (Chicago, Ill./Jones College Prep) was hit by a pitch. A few pitches later, Margolis advanced to second on a wild pitch. Margolis then advanced to third on a putout from the third baseman to the first baseman. Margolis then came around to score on a wild pitch to make the score 9-1.
In the seventh inning, senior
Jack Sahargun (Coto De Caza, Calif./Tesoro) singled up the middle. Margolis doubled to left center to plate Sahargun. Two more runs would later come in to score after a few wild pitches and a walk. The Scots ultimately fell by a score of 11-4 in game one.
Sophomore
Declan Elias (San Francisco, Calif./St. Ignatius) came out of the bullpen to throw two innings for Macalester. Elias was lights out, striking out five of the six batters he faced and only allowing one hit.

In game two, The Scots carried over the momentum them had in the late innings by jumping out to a 6-0 lead after four innings of play. Macalester also saw a strong performance on the mound from senior
Will Madairy (Charlotte, N.C./Providence Day School). Madairy pitched six scoreless innings and only surrendered six hits while striking out six batters. Margolis earned his first career save after tossing three innings in relief. Margolis gave up one run on three hits and struck out three batters.
Junior
Anthony Palma (Moorseville, N.C./Lake Norman) singled to left field to lead the Scots off in the bottom of the first inning. Junior
Michael Moreno (Massapequa, N.Y./Massapequa) and Margolis were walked to load the bases before Palma scored the first run for the Scots on a wild pitch.
In the second inning, sophomore
Erik Hager (Lakeville, Minn./Lakeville South) walked and stole second base. A few batters later, first year
Matt Odom (Glendale, Calif./St. Francis) singled to right center to bring in a run. Sophomore
Kenny Rodriguez (Bronx, N.Y./George School) later singled up the middle for a two RBI double to give the Scots a 4-0 lead.
Junior
Lian Lincoln (Anchorage, Alaska/South Anchorage) led off the third inning with a double down left field line and was later brought in by senior
Sam Rosevear (Lewisburg, Pa./Lewisburg) who doubled to left center.
The Scots offense and strong pitchong was ultimately too much for the Cobbers as they only scored one run. Macalester took game two by a score of 6-1.
The Scots will head to Concordia Monday, April 26 to play game three of the MIAC series.
