Moorhead, Minn.- The Macalester College baseball team fell just short in their comeback attempt against Concordia College. After dropping game three of the three-game series to the Cobbers, the Scots fall to 6-12 (6-12 MIAC). Concordia improves to 11-11 (5-7 MIAC) after winning the three-game series.

Despite Macalester collecting 12 hits, the Scots were only able to score three runs. JuniorÂ
Anthony Palma (Moorseville, N.C./Lake Norman) led the game off with a single to left field and later advanced to third on a single from juniorÂ
Michael Moreno (Massapequa, N.Y./Massapequa). Sophomore
Kenny Rodriguez (Bronx, N.Y./George School) then drove in Palma on a single to left field to give Macalester an early 1-0 lead.

The Cobbers responded by scoring four unanswered runs in the bottom of the first inning to take a commanding 4-1 lead. Concordia added one more run in the bottom of the third inning and took a 5-1 lead into the top of the fifth inning.

Macalester plated two runs in the top of the fifth inning. First year
Matt Odom (Glendale, Calif./St. Francis) was hit by a pitch and later advanced to second base. Rodriguez then recorded his second RBI of the day after bringing in Odom on a single to right field. Rodriguez later scored on an RBI single from juniorÂ

Macalester's comeback came up short as the Scots ultimately fell 5-3 in nine innings. Rodriguez went 4-for-5 at the plate with two RBI's. Senior
Andrew Polk (San Mateo, Calif./St. Ignatius College Prep) got thee loss even though he did not give up an earned run. Polk only allowed six hits and struck out six batters.

The Scots will head over to Collegeville, Minn. to take on Saint John's University in a MIAC double header.
