ST. PAUL, Minn. – The Macalester College volleyball team closed out its home schedule with a three-set loss to UW-River Falls in a non-conference match Wednesday night in the Leonard Center. The Scots, who fell, 25-11, 25-23, 25-13, are now 13-10 overall, while the Falcons improve to 15-13.
Despite the loss on Wednesday, Macalester posted an 8-5 record at home, the first winning home record since the 2015 squad went 5-4 in the Leonard Center.
After a slow start led to a relatively quick first set, Macalester battled in the second set, eventually building a 19-14 advantage. UW-River Falls came back late, scoring six of the final seven points to win the second set, 25-23. The Falcons led from the start in the third set and used a string of five straight points to put the set out of reach. For the match, Macalester had 25 kills compared to 43 for UW-River Falls, who hit .227.

Eliza King (Novato, Calif./San Marin) led the Scots with nine kills to go with 12 digs, while first year
Adisa Preston (Eden Prairie, Minn./Eden Prairie) added eight kills and a team-leading 14 digs. Junior setter
Emily Drexler (Portland, Ore./Roosevelt) dished out 16 assists. For the Falcons, Sami Hilley and Sarah Langlois each had 10 kills.
Macalester returns to MIAC play on Friday, Oct. 29 with a match at No. 20 Bethel. The first serve goes up at 7:00 p.m. in Arden Hills, Minn.
