ST. PAUL, Minn. – The Macalester College volleyball team came up short against one of the top teams in the MIAC, as Hamline University beat the Scots in three sets, 25-18, 25-21, 25-8 Saturday evening in the Leonard Center. The loss drops Macalester to 13-9 overall and 4-5 in conference play, while the Pipers improve to 18-5, 8-1 MIAC to remain in a tie for first place in the conference standings.
The first two sets were competitive, with the Scots rebounding from big deficits before falling in the end. The third set was all Hamline, as the Pipers hit .474 and had 11 kills to just five for Macalester.
Junior
Eliza King (Novato, Calif./San Marin) led the Scots with 11 kills to go with seven digs, while first year
Stephanie Geber (Oviedo, Fla./Oviedo) had six kills and a .545 hitting percentage. Senior setter
Claire Loomans (Minneapolis, Minn./Southwest) dished out 12 assists. First year
Torrance Williams (Houston, Texas/Yes Prep Northbrook) paced the Scots' defense with 14 digs. Hamline's Sydney Larson led all players with 19 kills.

Claire Wilson (Minneapolis, Minn./Southwest) and
Elyssa Cook (Cassel, Calif./Fall River) as a part of the team's Senior Night celebration.
Macalester steps out of conference play to host UW-River Falls in the final home match of the season. The match starts at 7:00 p.m. in the Leonard Center.
