St. Paul, Minn. – Macalester College women's soccer team played a conference match against Hamline on the road. Both sides were evenly matched, but Macalester came out on top 1-0.
The Scots wasted no time, putting up shots early and often from seniors
Alice Bieda (Downers Grove, Ill./Downers Grove North) and
Carolyn Eckstein (Bryn Mawr, PA/Radnor), junior
Celia Lesmeister (Decorah, IA/Decorah), and sophomore
Livi Novello (East Lansing, Mich./East Lansing). The Scots continued to press forward but were denied by the Pipers.

Ella Thomsen (Palo Alto, CA/Palo Alto) had a shot saved by Hamline's keeper. With both teams scoreless after 90 minutes, the game went into overtime. Bieda stepped up and put one into the back of the net in the 95
th minute, off an assist from junior
Lily Lorenzen (San Francisco, CA/Urban School of San Francisco).

Dana Gustafson (Ames, IA/Ames) made five great saves to keep Hamline scoreless. The Scots' record is now 6-3-1 (2-3-0 MIAC). The Scots' next match will be Wednesday, Oct. 6, at 7:30 p.m. They will play University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire at Macalester Stadium.
