ST. PAUL, Minn. – The Macalester College volleyball team lost a MIAC match on the road to Augsburg University, 25-19, 25-9, 25-15 Wednesday night at Si Melby Hall. The Scots are now 11-8 overall and 2-4 in conference play, while the Auggies improve to 12-8, 4-2 MIAC.
Macalester had trouble solving Augsburg's attack, as the Auggies registered 43 kills compared to 25 for the Scots despite having five fewer attempts. Augsburg also hit .299 while holding Macalester to a .000 hitting percentage. The first set was tied at 15-15 before the Auggies closed out the set on a 10-4 run. Augsburg dominated in the second set, 25-9, then turned a 10-10 score in the third set into a 25-15 win to clinch the match.

Gwen Wooten (Allen, Texas/Allen) led the Scots with nine kills, while first year
Adisa Preston (Eden Prairie, Minn./Eden Prairie) added eight kills and seven digs. First year
Nicole Norton (Brussels, Wis./Southern Door) had 21 assists and a team-leading 12 digs, with junior
Eliza King (Novato, Calif./San Marin) contributing 11 digs. Kevin Boysen paced the Auggies with 11 kills.
Macalester returns home to face MIAC newcomer St. Scholastica on Saturday, Oct. 16. The conference match starts at 7:00 p.m. in the Leonard Center.
