ST. PAUL, Minn. - Ten Macalester College student-athletes earned All-Academic Team honors from the Association of Collegiate Water Polo Coaches, the organization announced today. Additionally the Scots received the ACWPC All-Academic Team Award after posting the eighth-highest team grade-point average (3.56) among all women's collegiate water polo teams.
To be eligible for the ACWPC All-Academic Team, student-athletes must have a GPA of 3.20 or higher. A total of 743 student-athletes were named to the team.
The 10 Scots to earn the ACWPC All-Academic Award are seniors
Oriana Galasso (Gresham, Ore.) and
Naomi Strait (Beaverton, Ore.), junior
Adeline Steward-Nolan (Oak Park, Ill./Oak Park and River Forest), sophomores
Honor Kalala (Silver Spring, Md./Montgomery Blair),
Annika Krueger (Emerald Hills, Calif./Sequoia) and
Riley Waters (Portland, Ore./St. Mary's Academy), and first years
Malia Borg (Charleston, S.C./Academic Magnet),
Sydney Hollingsworth (Evanston, Ill./Evanston Township),
Eleanor Michaud (Long Grove, Ill./Adlai E. Stevenson) and
Alex Westrick (Ashland, Ore.).
Macalester, coached by
Scott Reed, were 5-3 last spring before the season was canceled. The Scots had won the previous three CWPA Tournament titles.
