NEW ULM, Minn. – The Macalester College volleyball team earned a four-set victory over Martin Luther College, 25-23, 23-25, 25-22, 25-19 Saturday afternoon at Martin Luther. The Scots improve the 3-10 with the win, while the Knights drop to 2-12.
After the two teams split the first two sets by identical scores of 25-23, Macalester took control with a 25-22 win in the third set. First years
Zoe Lowe (Longmont, Colo./Longmont) and
Eliza King (Novato, Calif./San Marin) each had three kills in the set to lead the Scots. Then in the fourth set, Macalester scored the final four points to win the set, 25-19 and take the match. Lowe, who had two kills down the stretch, tallied five kills in the final set.
Lowe finished with a match-high 13 kills to go with 15 digs for Macalester. King added 11 kills and 14 digs, while sophomore setter
Claire Loomans (Minneapolis, Minn./Southwest) dished out 33 assists. Defensively, first year
Katrina Schoen (Grafton, Wis./Cedarburg) racked up 26 digs, while junior
Sofia Parmelee (Tenafly, N.J./Tenafly) had nine total blocks. Kati Aguilar led MLC with nine kills.
Macalester returns to MIAC play with a home match against Saint Mary's on Wednesday, Sept. 25. The match begins at 7:00 p.m. in the Leonard Center.
