NORTHFIELD, Minn. – The Macalester College volleyball team fell to Carleton on the road in four sets, 25-19, 25-11, 24-26, 25-10 in the first MIAC match for both teams Wednesday night at West Gym. The Scots are now 2-10 overall and 0-1 in the conference, while the Knights improve to 2-8, 1-0 MIAC.
First year outside hitter
Eliza King (Novato, Calif./San Marin) registered a team-best 11 kills to go with nine digs, while first year outside hitter
Zoe Lowe (Longmont, Colo./Longmont) notched eight kills. Senior middle hitter
Ashley Helfinstein (Sunnyvale, Calif./Homestead) and junior middle hitter
Sofia Parmelee (Tenafly, N.J./Tenafly) had five and six kills, respectively while combining for four blocks. Sophomore setter
Claire Loomans (Minneapolis, Minn./Southwest) kept the offense moving with 30 assists, and first year
Katrina Schoen (Grafton, Wis./Cedarburg) paced the defense with 15 digs. Carleton was led by Olivia Powell, who had 12 kills.
Macalester plays a non-conference match at Martin Luther on Saturday, Sept. 21. The match starts at 3:00 p.m. in New Ulm, Minn.
