ST. PAUL, Minn. – The Macalester College men's soccer team lost a conference game to visiting Concordia College, 2-0 Friday night at a blustery Macalester Stadium. The Scots are now 5-4-4 overall and 3-2-1 in league play, while the Cobbers improve to 8-3-1, 2-3 MIAC.
Concordia broke a scoreless tie in the 27th minute, when Casey Haldis played a long ball that bounced over the Macalester defender and sent Nate Weaver in behind the defense. Weaver's shot went over junior goalkeeper
Cade Fink (Plainfield, Ill./Plainfield North) and into the goal for a 1-0 lead. Then in the 57th minute, Dylan Michaud drove a ball into the penalty area that was headed into the goal by Sam Gess.
The Scots had a few chances late to get on the scoreboard. The best chance came in the 89th minute, when a header by junior forward
Floyd Krom (Naaldwijk, Netherlands/UWC-Costa Rica) was saved by Cobber goalkeeper Noah Sahr. Sahr finished with three saves.
Before the game, Macalester honored its seniors as a part of Senior Day.
The Scots return to action on Wednesday, Oct. 16 with a conference match at Hamline. The MIAC contest starts at 3:30 p.m. at Pat Paterson Field in St. Paul.
