Women's Swimming and Diving: Macalester Hosts Dual Against Grinnell College

ST. PAUL, Minn.- The Macalester women's swim and dive team lost to Grinnell College in a dual meet today at home.

First year Kinsey Stewart (St. Paul, Minn./Roseville Area HS) kicked off the Scots with a third place finish in 1000-yard freestyle with a time of 12:31.33.

Junior Ariel Roghair (Iowa City, Iowa/West) then swam to first place in the 100-yard backstroke 1:05.56. She also placed fourth in the 100-yard freestyle in 57.68. First year Betsy Foy (Omaha, Neb./Harry A. Burke) followed in the 100-yard backstroke, placing fourth with a time of 1:07.40.

Foy's best swim of the day was in the 200-yard individual medley when she swam to second place with a time of 2:23.73.

Junior Ana Thompson (Minnetonka, Minn./Orono) swam to a first place finish in the 200-yard backstroke in 2:17.58. Thompson also placed sixth in the 100-yard breaststroke.

In the 200-yard breaststroke, senior Olivia Borgmann (Seattle, Wash./Garfield) placed third in 2:44.78. Sophomore Sophie Mark-Ng (Cambridge,Mass./Cambridge Rindge and Latin School) immediately followed Borgmann in fourth place with a time of 2:45.96.

And in the 100-yard breaststroke Mark-Ng took first place, 1:13.07, and Borgmann placed second in a time of 1:15.91.

Sophomore Zoe Schopick (Winchester, Va./Jameswood) was the first place swimmer in the 200-yard breaststroke with a time of 2:20.93.

In diving, sophomore Karina Polacek (Cambridge, Mass./Cambridge Rindge and Latin School) dove to fourth in the 1-meter dive and and the 3-meter dive.

Macalester returns for the final meet of the season on Feb. 13-16 in the MIAC Championships in Minneapolis, Minn.
