Women's Swimming and Diving: Macalester Swims In Dual At St. Kate's

ST. PAUL, Minn.- The Macalester women's swim and dive team competed at St. Catherine University today in a dual match with the Wildcats, finishing second.

The Scots were led off by sophomore Zoe Schopick (Winchester, Va./Jameswood) who placed fourth in the 1000-yard freestyle in 12:03.60. Later in the meet, Schopick continued to swim well for Macalester as she finished third in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 1:05.45.

Junior Ariel Roghair (Iowa City, Iowa/West) placed top for the Scots in the 200-yard freestyle with a second place finish and a time of 2:08.07. She was closely followed by sophomore Sophie Mark-Ng (Cambridge,Mass./Cambridge Rindge and Latin School) who placed third in the event in 2:09.49.

Roghair also swam to a fourth place finish in the 100-yard butterfly in 1:06.76. While Mark-Ng took first place in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:13.58.

First year Betsy Foy (Omaha, Neb./Harry A. Burke) followed Mark-Ng in the 100-yard breaststroke to third place with a time of 1:16.48. She also swam the 50-yard freestyle, finishing fourth in 28.45 .

Junior Ana Thompson (Minnetonka, Minn./Orono) swam to a second place finish in the 200-yard individual medley in 2:22.87 as well as in the 100-yard freestyle in a time of 59.84. Senior Olivia Borgmann (Seattle, Wash./Garfield) rounded of the Scots night with a fourth place swim in the 100-yard backstroke, 1:10.29, and a sixth place finish in the 200-yard freestyle.

In diving, sophomore Karina Polacek (Cambridge, Mass./Cambridge Rindge and Latin School) placed third in the 1-meter dive followed by sophomore Lydia Yoder (Concord, Mass./Concord-Carlisle Region) in fourth.

The Scots return to their home pool on Saturday, Jan. 26, in the Grinnell College Dual Meet in St. Paul, Minn.
