MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. – The Macalester College volleyball team earned a non-conference win on the road with a 3-1 decision at North Central University Wednesday night at CLC Gymnasium. The Scots won by scores of 18-25, 25-15, 25-11, 25-12 to improve to 2-3 on the season, while the Rams fall to 1-4.
After losing the first set 25-18 in which NCU had 12 kills and a .241 hitting percentage, Macalester tightened up the defense. The Scots held the Rams to a total of 15 kills and a negative hitting percentage over the final three sets to cruise to the win. Senior
Sofi Ascencio (Oakland, Calif./Holy Names) and sophomore
Abrielle Dillon (Brown Deer, Wis./University School of Milwaukee) each had 12 digs, as the Scots racked up 54 digs as a team.

Grace Brickner (Bronx, N.Y./Fieldston) registered six of her team-best 12 kills in the third set, while senior outside hitter
Nicole Bennington (Shelton, Wash./Olympia) added 10 kills. Senior setter
Emily Bowler (South Salem, N.Y./John Jay) helped the offense with 30 assists to go with eight digs.
Macalester heads to Lawrence University in Appleton, Wis., for the ACM Tournament Sept. 8-9. The Scots open play on Saturday against Beloit at 12:00 p.m. and Ripon at 4:00 p.m.
