Women's Swimming and Diving: Macalester Wins Dual Meet Against St. Norbert

ST. PAUL, Minn.- The Macalester women's swim and dive team beat St. Norbert in a dual match hosted by the Scots today.  

The women started off the meet winning the 200-yard medley relay with Ariel Roghair (Iowa City, Iowa/West), Olivia Borgmann (Seattle, Wash./Garfield), Zoe Schopick (Winchester, Va./Jameswood) and anchored by Sophie Mark-Ng (Cambridge,Mass./Cambridge Rindge and Latin School).

Junior Olivia Sailors (Witchita, Kan./Campus) finished first in the 1000-yard freestyle with a time of 13:02.98. In the 200-yard freestyle, first year Betsy Foy (Omaha, Neb./Harry A. Burke) finished second in 2:09.89 and first year Kinsey Stewart (St. Paul, Minn./Roseville Area HS) followed in third place in a time of 2:14.66.

In the 50-yard freestyle, Miriam Eide (Rochester, Minn./ Century) won the race with a time of 27.30. First year Olivia Forshee (Grafton, Wis./Nicolet) was next in the 50-yard sprint placing fourth in 28.58. Eide continued to lead the Scots in short freestyle races as she also placed first in the 100-yard freestyle.

Roghair and Borgmann finished first and second, respectively, in the 200-yard individual medley. Roghair continued to swim well as she swam to first in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 1:05.92. Macalester swept the top three finishers in the 100-yard butterfly with Schopick, Forshee and first year Lanae Caldwell (Long Beach, Calif./Long Polytechnic).

In diving, junior Franki Gillis (Riverforest, Ill./Trinity) dove to first in the 1-meter dive and the 3-meter dive. Sophomore Karina Polacek (Cambridge, Mass./Cambridge Rindge and Latin School) backed up Gillis's performance, placing second in the 1-meter and 3-meter dives.

The Scots will stay at home next weekend to host the Roger Ahlman Invitational on Saturday, Nov. 10, at 1:00 p.m. in St. Paul, Minn.
