ST. PAUL, Minn. – The Macalester College volleyball team defeated Martin Luther College, 25-10, 25-21, 25-15 in a non-conference match Wednesday night in the Leonard Center. The win snaps a four-match losing streak for the Scots, who are now 8-11 overall. The Knights fall to 5-16 with the loss.
Macalester took advantage of 12 Martin Luther attack errors and three kills from sophomore middle hitter
Sofia Parmelee (Tenafly, N.J./Tenafly) to cruise in the first set, 25-10. In the second set, the Scots trailed 16-14 before outscoring the Knights 11-5 the rest of the way. Senior outside hitter

Kendall Ford (Seattle, Wash./The Northwest School) each had three kills in the set. Macalester started the final set with six straight points as part of a 10-1 run to open the set. Ford, Parmelee and senior outside hitter
Sofi Ascencio (Oakland, Calif./Holy Names) delivered three kills apiece, as the Scots wrapped up the win.
Macalester used a balanced attack, with four players recording at least five kills. Parmelee led the Scots in kills for the second consecutive match with eight. Ascencio registered seven kills, Ford had six and Bennington finished with five. Senior setter

Abrielle Dillon (Brown Deer, Wis./University School of Milwaukee) recording 13 digs to lead the defense. Ruth Buchholz paced Martin Luther with nine kills.
Macalester hosts Finlandia in another non-conference match on Friday, Oct. 5. Game time is set for 7:00 p.m. in the Leonard Center.
