ST. PAUL, Minn. – The Macalester College volleyball team lost to Bethel University in three sets, 25-15, 25-18, 25-10 in a MIAC match Saturday afternoon in the Leonard Center. The Scots, who celebrated their four seniors before the match, fall to 9-16 overall and 0-9 in the conference, while the Royals improve to 22-6, 6-3 MIAC.
Macalester was led by senior outside hitter
Sofi Ascencio (Oakland, Calif./Holy Names) with six kills and five digs, while sophomore middle hitters
Sofia Parmelee (Tenafly, N.J./Tenafly) and
Kendall Ford (Seattle, Wash./The Northwest School) each had five kills. Senior setter
Emily Bowler (South Salem, N.Y./John Jay) delivered 21 assists, with sophomore libero
Abrielle Dillon (Brown Deer, Wis./University School of Milwaukee) notching a team-best 13 digs. Bethel's Brooke Olstad led all players with 14 kills.
Prior to the match, the Scots honored seniors Ascencio, Bowler and outside hitters
Nicole Bennington (Shelton, Wash./Olympia) and
Gabby Ivy (Saint Louis, Mo./John Burroughs) and their families for their commitment to Macalester Volleyball over the past four years.
The Scots continue their MIAC schedule with a match at first-place Saint Benedict on Wednesday, Oct. 24, beginning at 7:00 p.m. in St. Joseph, Minn.
