ST. PAUL, Minn.- The Macalester College women's basketball team lost to in overtime to Augsburg University, 80-73. The Scots led for the majority of the game but were unable to close out the Auggies.

Macalester is now 6-11 and 2-8 in the MIAC this year.

In the first quarter the game was evenly played until Macalester opened a six-point lead with back to back jumpers by sophomore
Holly Hull (Overland Park, Kan./Blue Valley Northwest) with a minute and a half left in the quarter. The Scots ended the quarter 16-10 with a jumper from first year
Justine Barraza (Burbank, Calif./Harvard-Westlake). Macalester continued their offensive attack by outscoring the Auggies 20-12 in the second quarter. With just under two minutes left, the Scots had their largest lead, 19 points, over Augsburg and went into half time up 36-22.

The Auggies came out hard in the third quarter outscoring the Scots 19-15, with Macalester allowing 11 points on turnovers. However, the Scots were able to continue being affective offensively shooting 40 percent in the field and leading the Auggies by 10 points at the end of the period. Â However, the Scots were unable to finish from behind the arc and turned to ball over nine times to the Auggies in the fourth quarter. Augsburg drew level with the Scots, overcoming a fourth-quarter 16-point deficit, in the last second of the game. The Auggies went on an 11-1 scoring run on the Scots in the last two minutes and ended it with a game tying layup by Augsburg sophomore guard K'Aezha Wubben. The Scots headed into overtime 67-67.

Despite senior Fruh tallying a double double with 23 points and 14 rebounds, and sophomore Hull scoring 15 points, the Scots could not see the win through overtime. The Scots were outscored 6-13 and had five turnovers in overtime to lead the Scots to a 73-80 loss.

The Auggies were led by sophomore Camryn Speese with 20 points.

The Scots return to action away against St. Catherine University on Wed., Jan. 4 in Saint Paul, Minn. at 7:00 p.m.
