ST. PAUL, Minn.- The Macalester College women's basketball team lost to the College of Saint Benedict, the number one team in the MIAC, 66-38 today. This is the second loss to the Blazers this season for the Scots and Macalester is now 6-10 on the year.
The Scots were unable to finish tonight as they scored only one field goal in the first quarter and just 10 more points in the second. The Blazers went into halftime up over Macalester 30-12.
Down 53-21 at the end of third quarter the Scots were able to find a defensive rhythm and outscore the Blazers 17-13 in the fourth, losing 38-66. Senior guard
Leah Gray (San Rafael, Calif./Branson School) led the Scots defensively with three blocks on the night as well as six points. Senior center
Regan Fruh (Helena, Mont./ Helena) continued to add to her record breaking career as she led Macalester with nine points, two blocks and a steal.
The Blazers were led by their lead scorer Niki Fokken with nine points and two blocks on the night.
The Scots return to action home against Augsburg College on Sat., Jan. 20 in Saint Paul, Minn. at 3:00 p.m. at the Leonard Center.
