ST. PAUL, Minn. – The Macalester College men's soccer team dropped a non-conference game to St. Norbert College, 1-0 Sunday afternoon at Macalester Stadium. The Scots, who opened the season with a victory over Claremont-Mudd-Scripps on Friday, are now 1-1 on the year. The Green Knights improve to 1-1.
The game remained scoreless until the 84th minute, when Anthony Pineda received a pass from Evan Watzka and blasted a shot from 25 yards out into the left side of the goal. Macalester's best chance to score came in the 57th minute, as a corner kick from senior midfielder
Jake Burke (Dublin, Ireland/Shattuck-St. Mary's) was headed off the post by senior defender
Colby King (Newcastle, N.H./The Governor's Academy).
First year
Cade Fink (Plainfield, Ill./Plainfield North) made his first career start in goal and recorded two saves. Josh Koleske had two saves, as the Scots held a slight 9-8 advantage in shots.
Macalester returns to action on Friday, Sept. 8 with a non-league game at UW-Superior. Kick-off is scheduled for 4:00 p.m. in Superior, Wis.
